“If you’re experiencing BPH, talk to a doctor about Rezūm Therapy. It was well worth it for me.” - Jerry

Finding Relief with Rezūm™ Water Vapor Therapy

Jerry is 58 years old and lives in Baltimore, Maryland with his wife and children. A busy professional, he is an estate, trust and business lawyer, and serves on the board of his local hospital and scholarship foundation.

I just couldn’t get a good night’s sleep.

I started experiencing symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), or an enlarged prostate, in my early 50s. I was going to the bathroom more often and urgently and waking up at least three times a night.

So I reached out to a doctor I trusted.

I’d met Dr. Richard Levin, a urologist with Chesapeake Urology, years ago when our children played soccer together. Dr. Levin diagnosed my enlarged prostate condition and prescribed medications to manage my symptoms.

I took two different medications for about five years. While I didn’t have side effects, I also didn’t have total relief. I felt less pressure but still had to make frequent trips to the bathroom. I was also frustrated with insurance issues – my health plan kept asking for prior authorizations. The process was getting more complicated each time I filled my prescription.

My symptoms got worse with time, so we looked at solutions beyond medication.

Dr. Levin then recommended Rezūm Water Vapor Therapy, a new steam treatment for enlarged prostate. He advised that it’s a short, in-office procedure. I learned that the majority of men who are treated with Rezūm Therapy don’t have to pursue more invasive surgical options later for their BPH symptoms.

I decided to get the treatment and had Rezūm Therapy in March 2020. The treatment itself only lasted 15 minutes. I had local anesthesia, so I was awake during the procedure and felt some brief discomfort. But it was over very quickly, and then I was able to go home and start my recovery.

Pretty soon, I noticed improvements.

By the fourth week after my treatment, I was sleeping through the night and having fewer trips to the bathroom. I no longer need BPH medication or have to deal with my insurance. I’m very happy with the results, and my family and friends have noticed the difference.

A few minutes of discomfort was definitely worth the positive impact on my quality of life. If you’re experiencing BPH, talk to a doctor about Rezūm Therapy. It was well worth it for me.
